Virtual Reality

I am researching on vertical limit --- up to how high human can survive/breathe.
This along with other factors will define the height of the structure. Then it will go on to more of a fictional approach. Virtual Reality is what I think I will be focusing on.

VIRTUAL REALITY
-3D computer generated environment
-immersive environment which people can interact with
-used in many fields such as military, education, healthcare, entertainment, etc.

Virtual Reality Immersion
-feeling of involvement
-"telepresence" a sensation of being elsewhere
-user forgets about real world scenario, situation, and immerses into world of imagination, adventure, exploration.

Virtual Reality and Scientific Visualization
Communicating abstract concepts to audience through visual format. In this case=higher altitude & outer space.

1.Semi-immersive environment
2.Full immersive environment

1.Semi-Intensive Virtual Reality Environment
-the aim is for the person to become unaware of their surroundings to extent that they assume a new identity.
-often consists of large, concave screen, projection system and monitor and high end computer graphics.
-no need to wear virtual reality gear and is still aware of the real world outside the virtual environment.

Computer Generated Imagery (CGI)
-application of 3D computer graphics to special effects in art, video games, films, simulators.
-visual scenes may be either static or dynamic
-can be viewed from multiple perspectives

2.CAVE Fully Immersive Virtual Reality
-cube-like space in which images are displayed by a series of projectors

Cave set up
-rear projection wall
-down projection floor
-speakers at different angles
-tracking sensors in the walls
-sound/music
-video

The person wears a pair of virtual reality glasses or HDM which displays 3d image.

CAVE Interaction
"telepresence" = interaction+immersion --- person can literally lose themselves within the virtual environment
Haptic Interaction = vibrations and other forms of movement accompanied by sound, video, images

Ambience and Atmosphere
-continuos usage will create a sense of deep immersion in the mind of user
-however latency/time lag should be less than 50 milliseconds
-in good environment, user forgets everything surrounding him and starts to believe it as his real world

This is really becoming a super interesting project, A!

As a reference, i would like you to watch films by the Russian director Andrei Tarkovsky, especially Stalker and Solaris.

Now make a series of diagrams explaining and describing and even illustrating (could be other form than a diagram) the different stages of this vertical ascension.
Technologies and techniques should be researched further and your design specifically using this knowledge in a unique transformation.

Would you also use (and thus transform) water for this final (maybe not final, maybe we do not actually know how this will end...) stage which you call virtual?

We will need (but you can do that later) to speculate a bit more on this word "virtual".
